The Night America Trembled! The War of the Worlds was made famous by Orson Wells on his Mercury Theatre on the Air. It was performed as a Halloween episode of the series on October 30, 1938, and aired over the Columbia Broadcasting System. Directed and narrated by actor Orson Welles, the episode was an adaptation of H. G. Wells’ novel The War of the Worlds. This collection includes that original radio broadcast on compact disc, two film versions, as well as four more classic science-fiction movies.
